About Me

I’ve been an athlete ever since I was six. Not just for fun, but a real enthusiast. Judo, competitive swimming, water polo right up to the highest amateur level, Aikido (3rd Dan black belt), marathons and ultramarathons. And now, almost fifty years later, I still train every day: Brazilian jiu-jitsu (blue belt), strength training and running.

That breadth of expertise is my greatest strength as a sports nutrition coach. It is precisely what sets me apart. I specialise in endurance sports and martial arts, but I work with athletes from all disciplines.

Water polo, marathon running and jiu-jitsu are three completely different sports, each with their own energy systems, physical demands and recovery needs. I have experienced all three from the inside. I know what it takes to train intensively, perform under pressure and focus systematically on recovery and energy management. Not from a book, but from years of personal experience.

For five years, I was head coach of men’s and women’s water polo teams, with the women’s team competing at the 1st Division league level. There, I learnt just how much of an impact nutrition and recovery have within an intensive training programme, and how to encourage athletes to take this seriously.

My fascination with the science behind performance led me, in 2012, to enrol on the specialist, BGN-accredited Sports Nutrition course at Leidsche Onderwijsinstellingen. After working as a sports nutrition coach for five years, I took a deliberate break. In 2024, I returned to this work, with more life experience, a sharper perspective and a clear conviction: I believe that sport enriches your life. At every level, at every age. Good nutrition is what enables you to keep that up. I know this from my own experience as an athlete, and it is what drives me to help others achieve the same.

That conviction is the reason why TWINDO Sports Nutrition exists.

The world of sports nutrition is full of noise: supplement adverts, fads and advice that’s more about making a sale than about you as an athlete. I do things differently. No sponsored products, no affiliate links, no sales pitches. Just honest, scientifically backed guidance tailored to your sport, your body and your goals. I keep my knowledge up to date through specialist literature and modules led by Prof. Asker Jeukendrup of MySportScience Academy, one of the world’s leading sports nutrition scientists.

Whether you’re training for your first marathon, aiming to perform well on the mat, or simply want to understand how nutrition can support your training: I’ll help you achieve your goals with a practical, actionable approach.

As well as providing sports nutrition advice, I also build WordPress websites for sports businesses and sports clubs. I’ve been designing and building websites for two years now, and through my work at a company that provides e-commerce solutions for the leisure industry, I deal with websites and online communication on a daily basis. I bring that knowledge and practical experience to every website I build – not as a generic web designer, but as someone who understands your world. I know how sportspeople think, what language works and what will convince your target audience. And I actively contribute ideas about the content: which pages do you need, how do you appeal to your target audience, and what should be on your homepage? I’ll work with you to answer these questions before I build a single page.
